THE ROLE OF GIRL CHILD EDUCATION IN NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Apparently, no appreciable development can be made either at the local, national or international level without recognizing girls and women as equal players. In the words of UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, “When we empower women, we empower communities, nations and entire human family”.
Females are instrumental in nation building, yet, they are systematically denied the resources, information and freedom of action they need to fulfill this responsibility. Of the number of school age children not in school, the majority are girls thereby widening the gender disparity gap.
Studies have shown that when girl child is educated and empowered, they stand to fulfill their purpose, carry out their family responsibilities, assume leadership position, discharge their community assignments more intelligently and reduce gender inequality.
THE ROLE OF GIRL CHILD EDUCATION IN NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT symposium was organized to sensitize, educate and re-orientate Girl Child on the importance of Education and Gender Equality.
